Before you ask
First questions, answered first.
Is everything made to measure?
Most of what we make is custom: drapes, scrims, cycloramas, covers and skirts are cut to your sizes. Rough sizes are enough to start, and we confirm finished dimensions before anything is cut.
Are your drapes fire rated?
Every cloth lists its fire rating. Wool serge is inherently flame retardant. Treated fabric is flame retarded to AS 1530 standards, comes with a treatment certificate, and is usually re-treated every 2 to 3 years.
Do you work outside Melbourne?
Yes. We make for theatres, schools and venues across Australia, and hire stock goes out Australia wide.
Can we hire drapes instead of buying?
Yes. Stage drapes and masking are available for dry hire, made with FR fabrics which meet AS 1530 standards. Send the dates and we confirm what is available.
What about tracks and rigging?
One enquiry covers both. We make the fabric; tracks, motors and fly systems are engineered by Theatre Safe Australia, our parent company.
