For the Australian production of MJ The Musical, Reveal Productions was brought in to manufacture key soft scenery elements. With complex fabric requirements, multiple scenery shops involved, and limited turnaround time, the team needed to deliver fast — and flawlessly.

The Brief

A spectacular show, and a short runway

 

With a tight lead time between contract award and the show’s debut, the challenge was clear: deliver high-quality soft scenery, fast. The show’s design demanded specific fabrics and specialist manufacturing techniques typically used by US-based scenic shops. Adding to the complexity, Reveal’s work had to complement builds from multiple other scenery shops across the globe — and everything needed to be stage-ready in time for bump in.

Reveal’s sewing team hit the ground running:

  • Sourced unique fabrics to meet design intent

  • Replicated US-style manufacturing methods with limited references

  • Worked collaboratively to ensure seamless integration with other suppliers’ builds

Communication and adaptability were key. The team leaned into their experience to solve problems quickly, all while keeping standards sky-high.
